Hi atombob! Been listening to the music you have been sharing online for years (since around 2007 actually!) and I thought I'd see if there was a way I could contact you directly because I'd like to ask you a couple of questions and just generally talk about music. Very glad you're still around the internet actually. Last night I thought I'd have a look at your 8 tracks page (I commented on some of your 8 tracks playlists a few times over the years) to see if you had uploaded a new playlist and that's when I realized you also have a blog page. Thought that would be a perfect opportunity to contact you.
I've been trying to recreate the original Moving Through Space playlist that used to stream on Live365, pretty much from memory. So far I have accumulated close to 15 hours of music. Some I know was in that original MTS playlist and some I added myself because I thought it fit there nicely. Among other things I'd like to ask if you still have a list of all the tracks that you used to stream back then. Just the titles of the tracks and artists. I'm on a quest! We're talking Amir Baghiri, Telomere, Red Shift, Rudy Adrian, Alpha Wave Movement, Galaxy, Digitonal, Sattyananda, Electrypnose, etc. etc. etc. So much good stuff. You know what I'm talking about. We're talking 2007 - 2012 more or less. Been feeling nostalgic so I took it upon myself to rebuilt that playlist.
So I hope that you are well, and if you don't mind me, I'll be hanging around the blog and catching up on what you've been sharing with the world. There's so much good ambient-space-atmospheric music to listen to and so little time...
hi Al F, great to hear from you, thanks for getting in touch. Just started doing the blog again in the last few months so it's nice to hear from supporters of the old radio show.
I do have some lists of old playlists from around about that time (i think), but will have to dig them out - it's something i have been meaning to do for a while, so after this heatwave, i will go find them and we can try and recreate some of those playlists again, maybe put a few on the blog. Will also be uploading to 8tracks again at some point too with new/old stuff.
Very happy to chat music, suggestions etc. anytime, music queries and what have you, and if i can help you with your quest i will, no worries. Let's get you reminiscing about some very tasty music from back in the day and hopefully some new material as well.
I know some of the artists you mention are still releasing new material, - Rudy Adrian, Digitonal , and Amir Baghiri is on facebook but not sure he's released anything recently. Red Shift released an album in 2015 "Life to come" and Galaxy last released in 2010 "Everlasting Tone" i think.
Anyway, l will dig out them there playlists and be in touch shortly Thanks for taking the time to chat. Much appreciated
I hope the current heat wave is not too hard on you. I hope you have a way of staying cool (aside from the music I mean).
There's no rush when it comes to digging the old playlists/track lists out. In the mean time, if you want, I'd like to send you the current list of all the tracks and artists I have put together. Here's my email address - alfador42@gmail.com - send me a message over there and I'll send you a list of all the tracks I put together in my personal attempt at recreating the Moving Through Space radio show playlist from memory (like I said in my previous message, with some minor additions here and there - but still pretty close to the original if I may say so myself! - even some I tracked down from some of your 8 tracks playlists). I'm curious to see what you think of it.
The whole project started a while ago. Months, if not years. And then it slowly came together and grew longer and more extensive over time. These last few months, after realizing that playing the tracks at random did not do the trick (some jarring transitions would occur for example a very drony track like Michael Neil's Into the Silence of Space would play followed by something more upbeat or rhythmic like Bluetech's Leaving Winter Behind) so I eventually took some time and organized the whole playlist so that it was more consistent and cohesive. It then became a very interesting journey of about 15 hours (currently) moving from more psychill and groovy sounds (Galaxy. Zero Cult, etc.), into some Berlin school sequencer based music (Red Shift, Hollan Holmes, Craig Padilla & Skip Murphy, etc.), to drone and deep space sounds (Steve Roach, Deepspace, etc.), and then into some more melancholic guitar infused soundscapes (Robin Guthrie, Hammock, etc) - and always looking to add more as you can see.
So I'm very eager to share a list of all the track titles and artist I put together. It's been a fun project to work on as well as a very comforting audio blanket for those crazy times we have been going through these last couple of years. I also listen to a lot of other things, dub techno and electronica infused world music, but I always find myself coming back to deeper sounds. Soul food right? I'm sure you know exactly what I mean.
I've been somewhat keeping up with some of these artists too! I became a HUGE Steve Roach fan thanks to you. I also got Galaxy's Everlasting Tone back when it came out (not as good as Science of Ecstasy IMO - Castle in the Blue Sky remains one of my favorites to this very day - in fact it was part of the soundtrack to my 2008 trip to Asia).
So let me stop right there because I feel like I could go on and on about this stuff. Like I said, send me a message at my email address and I'll send you a full track list. In the mean time, take care and looking forward to taking some time to listen to what you've been posting around here.
Finally took the time to listen to listen ot this (I'm a creature of habit and I tend to gravitate towards my usual internet radio stations...). I love these types of guitarscapes. That's actually another type of sounds I discovered through MTS way back around 2007-2008. Before that, I never knew these types of sounds were out there. I usually tend to listen to this kind of music around fall (october-november and beyond). I think it's the perfect kind of soundtrack for grey skies, crisp weather, and trees shedding their yellow, red and orange leaves...
